Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a pressure sensor, switch, and transmitter?
A pressure sensor detects pressure and converts it to an electrical signal. A pressure switch triggers an on/off action at a set threshold. A transmitter outputs a continuous analog or digital signal proportional to measured pressure, enabling precise control and trending in building automation systems.

How do I select the right pressure range for HVAC filter monitoring?
Choose a differential pressure range that covers normal filter life from clean to fully loaded. For standard HVAC filters, 0.10-0.30 IWC ranges work well. Higher-efficiency or clean room filters may require 0.2-0.8 IWC. Ensure the sensor's maximum rating exceeds peak startup or surge conditions.

Can I use the same pressure sensor for air and water applications?
Not always. Air sensors typically use dry diaphragms and low-range elements suited for gases. Water or liquid sensors require wetted materials compatible with the media and higher pressure ratings. Verify the manufacturer's specifications confirm compatibility with your application before installation.

Need Help Sourcing the Right Part? Selecting the correct pressure sensor depends on application details — media type, range, mounting, and output requirements. If you're unsure which device fits your system, submit your specifications through our online contact form and our team will identify the right solution.
